Pattea was born on the reservation. He attended Phoenix Indian School. His first college degree was from Phoenix College. His second degree came from the University of Northern Arizona.
While at NAU, Pattea met Rosiebelle, now his wife. After they were married, they moved to the Fort McDowell reservation.
Thereafter, Pattea worked for the next 15 years for the Bank of Arizona in its finance department. He also became involved in tribal leadership, and has spent the past 45 years working for tribal concerns.
In 2000 the Yavapai Nation adopted a new constitution making the presidency a four-year term. Dr. Pattea has won that election three out of the past four times.
Old traditions relate to time before the Orme Dam fiasco. New traditions center on life today in the neighboring community.
Confer has been with the museum for more than seven years. She graduated from the University of Illinois College of Liberal Arts and Science. For many years she worked as an interior designer.
After friends encouraged her to move to the Valley of the Sun, she realized it was fated that she settle close to the Yavapai Nation because Carlos Montezuma, a Yavapai doctor and recognized tribal hero, also went to the University of Illinois in the 1860's.
The meeting is open to the public.
